Throwing

A three hours “Taster Session” on the potter’s wheel for beginners or for potters who wish to brush up on simple throwing techniques.

You will be invited to learn how to throw a very simple cylinder and amend its shape. We will teach you the techniques for centering, opening your clay and pulling the walls to create first a volcano shape and then a cylinder. A maximum of three pots can be kept per person and we will turn and glaze them for you. They will be ready to collect within a month of taking this workshop. We will recycle any other pots you have made. The tuition, the three pots, the firings and glazing are included in the price.

For our current The Ceramic Hub potters and members, you will be invited to choose how many pots to keep, you will turn them in class and glaze in your weekly class. We might charge you £1 per 100g of clay if you choose to keep a lot more than three pots.

This throwing workshop is for adults only, with a maximum of 4 attendees.
Drinks and refreshments are included.

PLASTER CASTING BOTANICAL

You will learn how to design and cast flowers and foliage to make two botanical works of art.

Plaster Casting Botanical at The Ceramic Hub is a 3 hours long workshop.

We will be covering the techniques of using clay, plants and plaster to create beautiful and often very meaningful works of art.
Once we will have demonstrated the techniques, you will choose your flowers, leaves and grass stems and you will start designing. You are welcome to bring your own flowers if you want and also material, lace and buttons or anything that you would like to cast. Then, you will roll your clay, place your flowers and start the making process.
We will invite you to create two plaster castings preserving the essence of leaves, flowers, and other plant elements. Exploring the intricate beauty of botanical forms on its own is enchanting and creative. Capturing the essence of nature’s presents is an incredible experience.

There is no special skill to have to join this workshop. It is a very good way to start and see if you enjoy working with clay.

For small and large groups, this workshop can be organised for anniversaries, celebrations or birthday parties. For corporate events, please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Christmas Wreath

Enjoying making a forever Christmas Wreath with clay

Christmas Wreath with clay at The Ceramic Hub is a 3-hour long workshop.

This is a great opportunity to make something special in clay to either try something new or brush up on your pottery skills. Making a Ceramic Wreath involves the usage of moulds inspired by seasonal foliage and many pottery techniques are going to be covered during this workshop. The tuition and step-by-step guidance are offered throughout the workshop. Glazing will happen once your wreath is fired the first time. You will be invited to come back to The Ceramic Hub in Wicken to decorate your work of art.

A second firing will take place. If you choose to add touches of gold, we might have to put your wreath through a third firing.
